Wisdom that sticks with you - straight from God's Word.
"The simple believes every word, but the prudent considers well his steps." (Proverbs 14:15)
The Good News Bible puts the same verse this way, "A fool will believe anything; smart people watch their step."
We should not depend on hearsay for what we believe, but carefully verify things and try to connect the dots of a matter. Proverbs 18:17 states it this way, "The first one to plead his cause seems right, until his neighbor comes and examines him."
This principle is particularly important during the Information Age. Internet rumors can seem to be the truth until another story comes along and refutes it. Re-touched photographs, altered videos, and clever hoaxes are the village gossip of our present era.
Challenge yourself: Have you verified the information you searched for today? Do you regularly take the time to search out the truth of a matter?
