“A truthful witness saves lives, but a false witness is a traitor,” (Proverbs 14:25, NLT).

A person who harbors good intentions for others will speak the truth and can save a person from condemnation. But someone who harbors evil intentions can betray even the best of friends.

During the trial of Jesus Christ is an example of the impact of false witness. Christ was called before the high priest, scribes and elders of Judea, and His enemies among them were determined to find a reason to have him executed, they "...sought false testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, but found none. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they found none. But at last two false witnesses came forward...," (Matthew 26:59-61, NKJV).

The evidence of these two false witnesses and the ensuing purposeful misunderstanding of the words of Christ began the legal process that ended in the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Our statements may not be the hinge of such momentous events, but they will define our character.

Are your words a life saver or do they result in treachery?
