Proverbs: God Has the Last Word

Wisdom that sticks with you - straight from God's Word.

“We may make our plans, but God has the last word” (Proverbs 16:1, GW).

This is where we get the saying, “Man proposes, but God disposes” The Scottish poet Robert Burns put it this way, “The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.”

So we don’t completely control every detail of our future, and it's good to recognize that it is God who permits things to happen, many times to test our hearts and to teach us valuable lessons.

Paul, the apostle, gives advice on how to leave things in God's hands, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Chirst Jesus," (Philippians 4:6-7).

What are your plans?
