Discerning the Truth From Lies

In our culture that has been influenced by the Bible for centuries, it is a religious belief that people should tell the truth. Why?

Lies distort reality. They hurt people. Political candidates say they did things they didn't do-and often do the opposite in office from what they say as a candidate-deceiving the public and hurting government. Millions say "I do" in marriage and then say "I don't-and won't anymore," destroying relationships and hurting children for the rest of their lives.

For people who become sincere students of the Bible, this Book of Books is all about discerning the difference between truth and lies. In Jesus Christ's prayer to God the Father before He was crucified, He said: "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth" (John 17:17). Jesus also said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6).

The Bible is a book about truth-and it reveals the earmarks of counterfeits of the truth. GN
