Proverbs: A Way That Seems Right

“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” (Proverbs 16:25)

An interesting take on this proverb is what sociology calls “cognitive dissonance.” People will try to justify their own beliefs even to the point of trying to alter reality. The idea is, “I’m right, no matter what.”

This tragic way of thinking led to WWII through the reasoning of Adolph Hitler, that his ideology was right and that various peoples lived or died at his pleasure. Fifty million people paid the price.

Humility and fear of God are the antidotes to this mentality. When we submit our plans to God, we submit to a greater, wiser intellect than our own. We admit that our vision is limited and that we need to see things through His eyes.

Which way will you take?
