Readers of The Good News share thier thoughts.
Here are three comments from well-known historical figures that I would like to submit with regard to your two excellent articles about America's historical connection to the Bible:
1) President Andrew Jackson: "That Book [the Bible], sir, is the Rock on which our Republic rests."
2) Napoleon Bonaparte: "The Bible is a living Book, with a power that conquers all who would oppose it."
3) Daniel Webster: "If there is anything in my thoughts or style to commend, the credit is due to my parents for instilling in me an early love of the Scriptures. If we abide by the principles taught in the Bible, our country will go on prospering . . . But if we and our posterity neglect its instructions and authority, no man can tell how sudden a catastrophe may overwhelm us and bury our glory in profound obscurity."
Webster's words, in particular, seem all the more prophetic today.

Please, can we have more about God's Kingdom and less about the USA? Tell us more about what's happening in the rest of the world-more about creation and more about future change-more about the fruits of the spirit and less about finances. Maybe you should be answering those who spout intellectual vanity about God and the Bible.

The Good News has been doing all these things since the very first issue. Please review our past issues online and see the subheading below about answering atheists.
Your July-August issue of The Good News deals with matters that have been on my mind for some years-the end time. I see the signs that we are entering the last days and the church is not aware of it, and certainly is not prepared.
I have found a great amount of material in this issue concerning events that are occurring today-which many professing believers are ignoring, including many pastors. There is an apathy among church members that is widespread and distressing. That in itself is exactly what Jesus meant when He said, as recorded in Matthew 24:36-39, that there would be indifference to God's Word.
The signs indicate that the return of the Lord is nearing. I am a retired pastor who has always been interested in prophecy. I am convinced that there are signs which are fulfilling what the Bible teaches about the latter days.
I commend the author for his amazing article, which is rich with truth that God's people need to realize today. There are only two or three points he made with which I disagree, but they are not important to my communication now.

I really enjoy reading The Good News. It sheds a light on areas of the world that are kept in the dark by other news media. It also explains the behavior of Middle Eastern societies and the reasons for that behavior from a biblical perspective. America has lost its way in so many respects. It seems the only way we can find the right way is to follow God's way, which your magazine clearly points out. I hope your publication continues for a long time.

As a subscriber to The Good News and a recipient of several booklets, I write to tell you how thoroughly I enjoy your literature. I also love the TV program, Beyond Today. I've come to see how important it is to learn to understand this business about the Middle East and how Bible prophecy leaves no room for doubt as to the future of mankind. Also I've known about the [seventh-day] Sabbath for about six or seven years from a dear old gentleman. I didn't pay much heed to the Sabbath until recently and all because of the literature and TV program from the United Church of God.

I would just like to say a big "thank you" for doing the work you do. I am so happy that you can convert your documents to mobi (Kindle friendly) as this helps me so much. I can now have all of your booklets and other important literature.

It gives me great pleasure to finally write to you and let you know how grateful I am to be receiving your free booklets. I have personally received so much benefit from your publications. I am able to share your Good News with friends in my small village. May God bless America for supporting Israel in these difficult times.

Thank you for responding to my request to receive the booklet The New Covenant: Does It Abolish God's Law? and the information about the typical Rapture idea. I have several friends in my church who have talked about the Rapture as though it were a definite fact. I have diligently researched the Bible for the mention of this topic and wondered why I could not find it. Now, having received your information, everything is much clearer.

I remember being asked, Why does God let such horrible things happen in the world? I recall being quite stumped and that I couldn't answer the question. At the time I felt rather vulnerable because the person asking me the question was an atheist, and an opinionated one at that. It has been years since this happened, but this question had plagued me since that moment. I would like to thank you for the free booklet Why Does God Allow Suffering? If I hadn't come across this booklet, I might never have known.

There is no God. There never was one. There never will be one. You and your like are the ones that burden humanity in its advance. You drag us into the mire of ignorance. You nullify all forward thought. You have kept not just your corner of the world in abject ignorance, but your brethren have done the same wherever your dim thoughts have been propagated. As human beings, I wish you well. As a philosophy, I wish you would vanish.

An earlier letter suggested that we "should be answering those who spout intellectual vanity about God and the Bible." Here is such a case. This person falls into the same trap many others have fallen into over the centuries. He assumes that there is no God without really examining the evidence. He should read our free booklet Life's Ultimate Question: Does God Exist? to see what science is really telling us.
I learn a lot from The Good News. I am a lay preacher in the Anglican Church. But I find your views and explanations interesting. You expound so well on current issues. I would very much like to continue receiving the literature.

Here are a few words to say thank you for giving me the truth and opening my eyes to the true gospel of God. I always knew something was badly wrong with even the so-called Bible-believing churches.

Thank you so much for the booklets you sent me. As a new member of the Christian church, there is so much for me to learn. I find the Bible to be an exciting book, but difficult to follow in some parts.
