shed any thoughts of personal invincibility. Sept. 11 taught us all that
life is fragile and there are no guarantees that any of us cannot be a
victim.

While physical life is uncertain, the Bible reveals there is hope for a more secure world in the future. Even though much violence and suffering is predicted prior to Jesus Christ's return to this earth to establish the Kingdom of God, the Bible also explains that Christians need not fear this time.

Ancient King David faced many threats upon his life, yet he learned to keep these problems in perspective. As he wrote in one of his most famous psalms: "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me" (Psalm 23:4, NIV, emphasis added). When the world around us goes crazy, God and His Word are steady anchors of hope.
In this issue of Youth United, we examine biblical foundations that provide understanding and encouragement for times like this. We begin with an article titled "Why Understand Prophecy?" to help you understand God's plan for humanity and the significance of biblical prophecy.
The next articles, "Understanding the Return of Christ" and "The Role of Satan in the End Time" cover biblical principles involved in Jesus' second coming to this earth to set up a new government and what the devil will do in an effort to confuse people. As most people know, there is a lot of speculation on these subjects. Be sure to read these articles to understand what the Bible itself has to say.

In uncertain conditions it is always important to remember the advantages and blessings that come from serving God. As Psalm 112 explains, "Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who delights greatly in His commandments... He will not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. His heart is established; he will not be afraid" (verses 1,7,8). May you be of the same mind because you, too, trust God. YU
