“How much better it is to gain wisdom than gold, and the gaining of understanding should be chosen over silver,” (Proverbs 16:16, GW).

What is the difference between a rich and a poor fool? It’s only the money. But a person who lives a life of wisdom and understanding reaps much better results.

The book of Proverbs has a lot to say about wisdom and how to aquire it, but so does the book of James. "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him," (James 1:5, NKJV).

God is the source of wisdom, and his way of life exemplifies the highest level of wisdom. Sometimes our human perspective prevents us from appreciating God's far-sightedness, but wisdom, when combined with patient faith, helps to see us through until we have learned the lesson God has to give us.
