“Doing right brings honor to a nation, but sin brings disgrace,” (Proverbs 14:34, CEV).

Here it is talking about a nation’s morals. As a nation becomes more corrupt, it will reap curses and not blessings.

Around us we see the fruits of nations as they make news every day. From the largest to the smallest, the choices made by those who govern a nation as well as the citizens of that nation, what moral code they choose to live by, be it extreme violence or sexual perversion, greed or superstition and religious falsehood, will determine the fate of that nation according to God's judgement.

No one is an island, we impact those around us and a nation's course is directed by the collective heart of its people. In the book of Jonah, Jonah the prophet is sent by God to deliver a prophecy to the city of Nineveh: Destruction is coming in 40 days! Jonah avoids his job at all costs, but finally delivers the message. And much to his shock, violent, superstitious, greedy Nineveh repents! God relents mercifully and the city continues to stand.

What example do we provide for those in our own nation? Are we positive examples of a coming Kingdom of God or do we simply go with the collective flow?
