Proverbs: A Wise Servant

article by Amanda Stiver

Wisdom that sticks with you - straight from God's Word.

“Kings are pleased with competent officials, but they punish those who fail them,” (Proverbs 14:35, GNT).

This is a principle in government and in business. The person who is diligent and fulfills his duties well will normally receive praise by those higher up. Conversely, the one who is negligent will eventually be demoted or dismissed.

The Bible is very pragmatic when explaining the way human nature works. Frustration with an inept employee can only be tolerated for so long. Just like when we go to a restaurant or store and receive poor service, our view of that business is associated with our unpleasant experience and we may head elsewhere the next time. One example makes all the difference.

The same is true of our personal example of God's way of life. The more we know, the more we are expected to act on and exemplify.

What message do we send to others on a daily basis? Do we fail or succeed in setting a positive example of God's way?
