I stated "There was persecution of the Thessalonian Christians at that time, but still little indication of any false teachers in Thessalonica."
But some sources, notably Walter Schmithals, see evidence of the fight against gnosticism in the letters to the Thessalonians. I am not sure, but reserve the right to be wrong in my 10/2016 opinion!
